Big Baby Scam Roughs

I cleaned my home office last weekend and boy did it need it. There were vines growing in through the windows, and spiders as big as squirrels hiding inside. I'm pretty sure they were using my fax machine to order pizza. In the process of cleaning out this foul nest, I came across piles and piles of rough drawings. Mostly inspirational stuff that I used to kick start gag ideas.

I think this was the first drawing I did for Baby Scam. We decided that instead of starting out with R&S so happy, we would push Ren's level of misery with his life in the trees.



This is one of two drawings John did for me to explain his theroy on baby fat.


This is the false start I was talking about in the last post.
We decided to milk Ren's misery a bit and do a slower build to finding the solution to his woes.

This is a post in response to Uncle Eddie's query as what is on our walls.

The first piece is one of several I bought at the Librafest auction when I was stinking drunk.
If you look closely you can read the peacocks reaction to seeing the wicked witch flying across his garden. If you can't make it out it's"Goddamn Motherfucker"

I believe that when a moron like this acts out and hurts people. Their name should be removed from all records. It should be as if they never existed. No network news spouting their name over and over. No discussions as to why they might have committed the horriffic acts. Just an unmarked hole in the ground. Actually less than a hole in the ground, I think throwing their corpse into a landfill would be much more suitable.

Some of time not being able to sleep is a good thing.

Why do the ladies love me? Is it my long supple bosoms that so entice their lips? Is it the languorous curve of my belly that causes them to climb me while fiery lust burns in their eyes?

















I know not why. But if they are drawn to my moist lips, I feel it is my duty to allow them free rein, for I am blessed.

The Argument

This was a rough first pass drawing for Nick marketing. It was to be used to push an upcoming episode titled Friend or Foe.
I clipped it a little in the scanning process, and my stitching was not what I'd call exemplary, but I was in a rush.
Tomorrow a rant about Standards and Practices.

I'm working on a drawing of the one legged guy that ran the laundromat.
But the Sponge has keeped me very busy the last few days.

Laundromat

Is there such a thing as a nice Laundromat? I don't think so. Oh sure they've had some upgrades since my last visit. A television enclosed in the wall, with a scratched spit covered Plexiglas shield. This is a plus. It seems to keep the wackos at least partially distracted from the higher functioning who are just trying to get through the arduous and oh so human task of washing the dead skin cells from their daily attire. But other than that, Laundromats are the same decrepit bung holes that they have been since I was a child. There are too many similarities between the interiors of Laundromats and the interiors of jails. The only difference being, that when your done washing and drying you can without permission escape the Laundromat and go to warm comfortable place where you are 97% less likely to get shanked for no reason other than you blocked someones view of the Plexiglas spit covered television.

When I was a kid I distracted myself from the misery my mom was having to endure by going out side and staring at the false leg of the the man who ran the joint. The damn thing looked like he had whittled it himself, a squared off open sided box, with a little striped pillow to cushion his stump from the hard reality of the wood that reached down to the floor for him. Or I could climb behind the wheel of my mom's car, a 57 Plymouth. That was hours of fun. All car interiors used to look like rocket ship control panels. A four year old could have a serious adventure just pretending to fly that thing mars. Unless like myself he managed to get gear shift lever in to neutral sending all five thousand pounds of car careening backwards down the steep parking lot, across the busy street, and into the lawn of the apartment building across the street. That landed me barred from the car, and staring at the old coots leg again.
So all that said, does anyone know of a truly nice Laundromat in the Valley? My machine is going to be down for at least another week.

Shitlog

Yes it's Shitlog...It's For Kids! An age old Spanish tradition for Christmas. Children run up to the Shitlog and beat it with sticks . All the while chanting "Shitlog, Shitlog, give us your candy or we will beat you with our sticks, Shitlog ,Shitlog! Thats right kids its Shitlog. But you can't have this one, it's John K's. because he has a special place in his heart for all kinds of logs."
Unfortunately, I shot this from a poor angle, blocking his cute little expression and obscuring his pipe.

Doodles 1-5-07

Above are a few doodles from yesterday. The first guy with the divot out of his forehead, was a fellow that Stevie and I saw while ambling around Barcelona. the flesh filled hole between his eyes was an inch deep and about the size of my thumb print, and if you've never seen my thumbs, let me tell you, they aren't small.

Man with a rabbit in his head, I think, needs no explanation.
Likewise the bottom left as it has a caption.

Bottom right is another continuous drawing of one of the SpongeBob writers thinking of ham.



The guy with the collapsed face in the shell was inspired by Kenny's little shelled creatures.

Continuous Line Drawig

I went to Spain over Christmas. Saw a lot of great architecture, ate copious amounts of wonderful food, and walked my legs off with my gorgeous gal pal. Surprisingly I didn't get very much drawing done while I was there.
However I was inspired by the Picasso museum. He did a series of of continuous line drawings of the circus theme. Now from everything I've read about the man, I'm guessing this was one of his exercises in one ups man ship that he would spring on unsuspecting artists that would come to visit. "Yes you can draw, but can you do this?" and he would proceed to whip one of these out. This all conjecture on my part. But that aside, back at the hotel I tried my hand at it and whipped out a drawing of my girlfriend, and guess what?! She liked it! Ain't love grand?

The Funeral Grimace

This is the face you feel like you're sporting during and around funerals. On the one hand, you are completely broken up about the person that is gone. But you are seeing people that you haven't connected with in years, and before you know it you find yourself standing there cracking jokes like everything is hunky-dory. What ever the hell that is.
Anyway this is a little drawing in homage to that implosively conflicted moment.

Old Yellow pad doodles.
The round headed character with the squinty eye, isMilo from the Oblongs. I was directing on the show.
Originaly Milo was supposed to only have one eye in the center of his head.
But the Execs grew frightened, and made us give him two eyes. Go figure, its alright for Prime Time charaters to be yellow with spikes on their head, or to have balls for a chin, but a one eyed boy.....too scary.
